Your Key Worker can help you fill in application forms, develop your CV and create cover letters. They can work with you one-on-one in person or online.

Your Key Worker will keep you informed about any group sessions taking place in your area.

Interview preparation

A simple Google search helps you understand the values and aims of the employer or company.

Most companies have social media pages which can be helpful to find out about recent projects, news and events.

Taking the time to visit these sites can help you to answer interview questions and shows you are genuinely interested in the job.

This can relieve any anxiety you might be feeling and help improve confidence. By practicing your answers, you improve flow and make sure you are not racing through questions. 

You can also take a copy of your CV to the interview and use as a prompt in case you get stuck on any questions.

We’ll help you prepare for your job interview by supporting with the following steps.

First Impressions

You should:

  • arrive early for your interview
  • save the interviewer’s contact information
  • make sure your phone is put on silent during the interview
  • be respectful when entering and leaving the building
  • appear confident and friendly though your body language - even if you're nervous
  • shake the hands of the person interviewing you, sit up straight, make eye contact, and smile
  • dress appropriately for the job you have applied for

Questions you can ask the interviewer

Often the interviewer will ask if you have any questions at the end of your interview. 

You might like to ask:

  • What does a typical day look like for someone in this position?
  • Why do you enjoy working with this company?
  • What are the next steps in this hiring process?

Close the interview

Leave a positive impression by shaking the interviewer’s hand and thanking them for their time. 

You could say things like:

  • Thank you for meeting with me today. I look forward to hearing from you.
  • Thank you for this opportunity. I appreciate your time.
  • I’ve enjoyed learning more about this role. Thank you.
